God of Wonderful Creation

Its been quite a long time since i last blogged. Well, My current book is Indigo from the collections of Ray. Some amazing things we fail to notice in this hectic life. Things as these (some of it) are well portrayed in this book.

There are one billion people in this world. Each one is created uniquely. Of course, every one has the same features: a pair of eyes, a pair of ears, a nose etc. Yet everyone is so unique that we can distinguish them. Even the identical twins who look exactly alike, have their own differences in attitude, tastes, behavior, thought patterns, likes and dislikes. Wow! Can't stop wondering at this. How great is our God!

Another revelation: Dust to Dust (O Real) - This is a line from the lyrics of Nick Cannon's My Rib. We are yet again reminded that we are running short of time. The fact of 'dust to dust' we tend to forget in the midst of our sophisticated lifestyle. The bottom line is this: Don't forget the reality! Don't forget your Creator!!

God Bless!

Focus, Obedience and Reward

I heard this thought yesterday from my colleague.

What i can say is : No-Focus, No-Obedience, Severe-Consequences

Its not an option to obey. Its a must. Its a command.

Its either DO otherwise DIE.

Its Life and Death issue.

How we take these things lightly?????..............

Don't expect any reward (In other words don't be reward minded) when you obey. Fear the consequences of not obeying. Then you will succeed!

Today is the day you can start obeying!!!

Have a nice day ! Immanuel !!

Where do we Stop?

Shekar Kapoor, thats the name if i am correct, of the person who shared God's Word last sunday.

Some of the obstacles for our Christian walk:

  • Seeking God becomes an activity

  • Seeking God becomes a religious thing

  • Chosen ones become frozen ones

  • Believers become concrete slab (that sets quickly and that's it)

  • They forget the first love

  • They lose the enthusiasm for the spirit led life

  • They forget the greatness of the ZOE life

  • Somebody lives in self-righteousness

  • The Sophistication of our lives hinders us from loving God

  • People does not want to change / grow

  • People don't want to leave their comfort-zone

  • God has become a need-meeter

  • Some people are so struck to their traditions

What should you do?

  • Have personal encounter with God daily. If this is not there don't tell me you are a Christian.

  • Involve yourself in the vision of your Senior Pastor. Don't say 'I don't have that calling' or 'There is the pastor to do that'

  • Have a born again experience daily. Some gets born again to become dead again. They get born again on Sunday, get dead again on monday, to rise again on next sunday.

  • God has given us ALL spiritual riches IN Christ Jesus for us to live this ZOE life. He has done his part to the fullest. What about you and me? Where are we standing today??

Thats Serious! Act now!! Move on fast!!!

My blog is rated 'G'

Saw on Femvale’s blog that his/her blog has been given a PG rating *sorry buddy*. Out of curiosity, I ran my blog through the same test and mine got a G rating. Haha. :D

There’s nothing scientific or cutting-edge about the test - I think it merely checks for the presence of certain keywords inside your blog. For example, the test results for my blog indicates that my blog contains no offensive words while that of fernvale contains two undesirable keywords: suicide and pain.

Interested to check the rating of your blog? Just click on the label above. Have fun, with a pinch of salt!

Job Scheduling

I love Linux Shell Scripts. That is one of the coolest areas to work with. Traditionally in Windows we used to work with MS DOS commands. But Linux shell scripting interests me the most.

Cron is the infamous buzzword for scheduling jobs. It helps you schedule jobs chronologically. There is another command that helps schedule one-time jobs. Think about it, your machine is used as a server for a lot of people working, connecting to your machine. You will not be there till every one of them finish using your server. Once they finish, your server well needs to be shutdown for maintenance. But as people are selfish, you cant trust them to do the shutdown for you. But well, yes, you can very well trust your program to do that for you.

atd is the the Linux command used to schedule one-time jobs queued for later execution. atd is the service which has to be enabled and running to do this.

Some Examples:

[samjosh@Samjosh ~]$ /sbin/service atd restart

# Schedule system shutdown at 18:20
[samjosh@Samjosh ~]$ at 20:30
at> poweroff
at>
job 16 at 2007-08-16 20:30
[samjosh@Samjosh ~]$

# To see all the jobs in queue
[samjosh@Samjosh ~]$ atq
16 2007-08-16 20:30 a samuelt
[samjosh@Samjosh ~]$

Well then what if all of the clients shutdown before the scheduled time? You need to check constantly whether any of your client is alive. If so, wait... otherwise its safe to power off your machine.

Here are the snippets!

# Checks status of your client
host=192.168.0.118
ping -c 1 $host
if [ `echo $?` -ne 0 ]
then
echo $host" is alive"
else
echo $host" is not alive"
fi

# Tip
Use as in the above snippet for each of your clients. Do this in a while loop. If a client is alive you can continue the loop as follows:

while [ 1 ]
do

{if - host1 is alive }
shift
continue
{else - check for host2 }
....
{if - host n is dead }

echo "System shutdown at `date` " >> ~/Desktop/my_log.txt
poweroff

done

Cool! I luvvit... Samjosh.

Hope

Hope for the Hopeless - That's what Jesus Christ came to give two thousand years ago. And still He is the same. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Hopeless
Today men in this world are hopeless, because of sin, sickness, poverty, anxiety, fear among a whole lot of others.

Sin: sin and addiction cripples people and slowly strangles them to death. People feel hopeless as they don't find a way to come out of it.

Sickness: You may have a job, a car and may live in luxury. Yet this sickness robs you of all pleasure and leaves you totally *sick* bedridden. Hopeless!

Poverty: This is another major ailment: see Proverbs 30:8-10 , Proverbs 28:6 It leaves you hopeless.

Anxiety: Synonyms are worries about tomorrow, unwanted worries etc.

Fear: Fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of evil etc.

The Good News

The Good news is that Jesus Christ has promised hope to the hopeless. Remember the woman at the well, He saw herself as a woman who brought her whole village to Christ. Remember the 38 year sick man at the pool of Bethesda. Remember the Lord at the tomb of Lazarus. Remember the Lord who met Peter when he was casting his nets after His resurrection.

He sees a new You. He has given all that you need to live a victorious life. Salvation, Gifts and the Anointing and the ever-present Helper.

Why then people are still hopeless? : A Price to Pay

Obedience, discipline and a total Surrender is required. Remember, No one can serve two masters.
Hope you will take this message. Jesus said: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light! (Matt-11:29-30)
